16 September 2010: Habe gerade gesehen, dass der Besucherzähler auf 0 zurückgesetzt wurde :-(. Ich weiß nicht, was genau passiert ist, vermute aber, dass es sich um einen 16 Bit-Zähler handelt, der bei Überschreiten von 65.535 Besuchern auf 0 gesetzt wurde. Also einfach 65.535 zur aktuell angezeigten Besucherzahl addieren...

25 April 2010: Der Amiga 600 wird auf dem Vintage Computer Festival Europe 2010 in München am 1. Mai 2010 zu sehen sein! Das VCFe ist eine der besten Retro-Ausstellungen in Europa. Wir sehen uns dort!

29 Oktober 2009: Weiteres kleines Update. Die Festplatte des A600 wurde durch ein 32 GByte Compact Flash-Modul ersetzt. Er bootet nun lautlos von diesem.

25 Oktober 2009: Dickes Upgrade für den Amiga 600: Er wurde um eine Indivision ECS erweitert, die Auflösungen bis zu 1024 x 768 und sogar 720p (1280 x 720) an TFT-Monitoren erlaubt! Weitere Details gibt's in der "Wie man einen A600 aufrüstet..."-Sektion!

09 März 2008: Der Amiga 600 war heute auf dem Image Hardware Meeting in Nürnberg zu sehen. Das Treffen war mit ca. 30 Amiga-Fans gut besucht. Michael Boehmer zeigte seine neue Zorro-III-USB-Karte "Deneb" in Aktion. Vielen Dank an das Image-Team für das tolle Treffen!!

09 März 2008: Aufgrund von Stabilitätsproblemen, die auf die alte Chip-RAM-Erweiterung zurück zu führen waren, hat der Amiga 600 eine neue Chip-RAM-Erweiterung von Individual Computers erhalten. Diese besitzt einen weitere Clockport, so dass der Amiga 600 nun zwei davon sein eigen nennt. An den zweiten Clockport wird wohl in Kürze eine Soundkarte angeschlossen. Bald hierzu Weiteres...

07 April 2007:Der Amiga 600 ist auf dem Vintage Computer Festival Europe in München! Der Amiga 600 wird auf dem Vintage Computer Festival Europe am 29. April 2007 in München ausgestellt. Das VCFe ist eine der qualitativ anspruchsvollsten Ausstellungen für alte Computer und einen Besuch wert. Der Amiga 600 wird als Teil einer für die späten 80er/frühen 90er Jahre typischen Cross-Entwicklerumgebung ausgestellt. Der dazu verwendete Cross-Assembler wurde vom Seitenautor damals selbst entwickelt. Wir freuen uns auf zahlreiche Besucher!

23 Juli 2005: Der Amiga feiert heute, am 23. Juli 2005 seinen 20. Geburtstag! Vor genau 20 Jahren wurde der Ur-Amiga dem staunenden Publikum im Lincoln-Center in New York vorgestellt. 32-Bit-Prozessor, 4096 Farben, Animation, Stereo-Sound, kombiniert mit einem leistungsfähigen Betriebssystem, das bereits präemptives Multitasking beherrschte -- und das zu einem halbwegs erschwinglichen Preis. Das hatte die Welt bis dahin noch nicht gesehen. Bereits im Vorfeld brodelte die Gerüchteküche rund um die fantastischen aber bis zuletzt größtenteils geheim gehaltenen Fähigkeiten des Rechners. Die Erwartungen wurden nicht enttäscht. Der Amiga sollte über Jahre technisch die Nase vorn behalten. Der Amiga 600, dem diese Seite gewidmet wurde, ist einer der eher unrühmlichen Söhne des Ur-Amiga. Zwar beherrschte auch der Amiga 600 Multitasking, wurde aber wegen seiner für den Amiga untypisch schlechten Erweiterbarkeit viel gescholten. Dass es auch anders geht, sieht man auf dieser Seite. Deshalb: Happy Birthday Amiga!!!

14 Januar 2005: Die Extreme Amiga Upgrading Page feiert Ihren 2. Geburtstag! Aus diesem Anlass habe ich einige der besten Bilder verrückter und beeindruckend aufgerüsteter Amiga 600s, die mir von Lesern der www.amiga600.de zugesendet wurden, in einer User-Galerie veröffentlicht. Die Galerie erreicht Ihr über der Link links unten. Die Galerie wird freundlicherweise von den Computerfreunden Ries gehostet. Vielen Dank hierfür an Klaus Dürr! Wer sich auf deren Site registrieren möchte, kann anschließend auch eigene Bilder seines Amiga 600 hochladen. Sonst hat die Registration natürlich keinerlei Auswirkungen. Ich freue mich auf Eure Zusendungen!

28 Oktober 2004: Heute begrüßte die Extreme Amiga 600 Upgrading Page ihren 23.000 Besucher! Unglaublich! Vielen Dank an alle Surfer für die zahlreichen Besuche! Aufgrund akuten Freizeitmangels konnte ich die Seite leider seit längerem nicht mehr aktualisieren. Dennoch gingen die Dinge (wenn auch langsam) voran: Der Übeltäter, der meine Festplatte crashen ließ, wurde ertappt: Das alte PC-Netzteil, das den Rechner mit Strom versorgte, war schuld. Jetzt hängt ein brandneues Netzteil von Elbox am Rechner, das bereits für den Betrieb mit dem Amiga 600 vorbereitet ist. Nun muss ich nur noch Zeit finden, die Maschine neu zu installieren. Derweil hege ich Pläne, die Maschine noch weiter (!) aufzurüsten. Genaueres in Kürze, also schaut bald wieder rein!

28 Mai 2004: Die Amiga 600-Page freut sich über mittlerweile mehr als 19.000 Besucher! Ob wir bald die 20.000-Grenze erreichen? 

22 Mai 2004: Gute Neuigkeiten für alle Amiga 600-Fans! Individual Computers plant eine Neuauflage der Apollo 630, die auch dem A600, der auf dieser Seite gezeigt wird, als Beschleuniger dient. Allerdings wird dies nur passieren, wenn sich genügend Interessenten finden. Mindestens 50 Käufer werden benötigt. Der anvisierte Preis liegt bei 130 €. Wer eine neue Apollo haben möchte, melde sich bei Matthias Bertram.

11 December 2003: Finally found time to try and save the data on my dying hard disk. Plugged the hard disk into my Pegasos (which by the way is a GREAT fully Amiga compatible PPC computer). It recognized the partitions right away and I managed to backup most data. The hard disk however does have defective sectors and I cannot boot the system anymore. Therefore the A600 will be offline for the time being... :-( Hard disk donations are always welcome! ;-)

21 November 2003: Major problem!! The 2,5" hard drive in my Amiga 600 seems to be in the process of dying! It makes strange, loud clicking noises whereupon the system crashes. What to do now? Should I rely on IDE hard drives' self healing capability and try again and again or do a quick backup? But how? All you www.amiga600.de users out there, please HELP! Thanks for any emails with tips in advance!!

19 October 2003: After a long, hot summer in Germany and a beautiful holiday trip to the U.S. it is finally time for another update of the Amiga 600 page. Changed the A600 picture on the title page to a nicer one, as you've probably already seen and added a forum for discussions around the A600 topic. The forum is hosted by the German computer club "Amiga Freunde Ries" so thanks to them for their support! You will need to create an account and log in to write articles in their forum. Hope to see you all there soon!

11 July 2003: Updated the downloadable picture archives in the Links section. Now they really contain all pictures from this site (including the USB pictures).

10 July 2003: Added a banner link to the "Amizilla" project on the main page. Amizilla is trying to bring the Mozilla internet browser to the Amiga. A project well worth supporting!

28 June 2003: Sorry for delays in page updates. Had a bad hard disk crash the other week. Not the Amiga 600 but my main computer. Had to get it running again which took some time... 

18 June 2003: The OS 4 on Tour roadshow is over. It was fun to see my upgraded Amiga 600 next to all those high end PPC Amigas running OS 4. I'll will post pictures once I've created the new "Picture gallery" section. Meanwhile you can take a look at pictures of the show here.

31 May 2003: I will display my upgraded Amiga 600 on the "OS 4 on Tour Roadshow" on 14 June 2003 in Augsburg, Germany. The show will be hosted by the Amiga Club Augsburg and KDH Datentechnik and will be the first public display of the new PPC native Amiga OS 4 in Germany. And you will be able to see that the Amiga 600 on this page is not a fake ;-) So, hope to see you all there!

30 May 2003: The USB ports have now been nicely integrated with the case and the disk drive has been put back in. Further pictures showing this added to the USB page.

13 Apr 2003: USB is working! The upgrade of the Amiga 600 with the USB card "Subway" was successful. My Amiga 600 therefore should be the only Amiga 600 world wide that has got fully working USB ports! See the new USB page for details.

4 Apr 2003: Some minor updates. The special clockport adapter has arrived. This will hopefully allow me to upgrade the A600 with USB. Stay tuned!

22 Mar 2003: More than 5000 visitors! Thanks to all for surfing by! Stay tuned for the USB upgrade which is currently in progress. I hope that I will be able to report a success during the next couple of weeks.

21 Feb 2003: 68882 wanted! As explained in the "Cooling" section I managed to kill my FPU by operating the Apollo uncooled for too long. Now I am looking for a new, working 68882 (33 or 40 MHz, PLCC). Have you got one that you can spare? Please let me know because these chips are hard to get, even on ebay! Yes, I'll pay for it. Thanks!

13 Feb 2003: The small web server on the Amiga 600 (see news item below) now displays the current system information when you access it... if you catch me online, that is :-)

6 Feb 2003: I have installed a small web server on the upgraded Amiga 600. You can access the Amiga 600 through this address: http://amiga600.dyndns.org  This will only work when the Amiga 600 is up and running which will not be the case very often. Check my ICQ online status above and if I'm online let me know that you want to access it. I'll then boot the machine. At the moment the A600 is only hosting its own (this) site.
